Nearing the end

Who would have thought that this year would go so fast. It was only yesterday that it was January, wasn't it? A lot had transpired, such as my fiance moving in with me, job and life in general. I tried submitting stories a few times, but rejections were the outcome. That didn't mean that I was giving up in any way, shape or form. I like to write, and am thinking of starting the next year by going independent like my friend Erica Conroy and a few others that I follow.

First story submission in 7 years away

So last week I have submitted a 11,000 worded novelette to Asimov's Science Fiction and Fact, a science fiction magazine (they have an electronic version too). Hopefully in four weeks I'll know.

Considering the false starts recently I think that trying to go indy with short works is not a good idea, as I do not have enough to show just yet.

Down for the count . . .

So my first attempt in introducing a new story kind of backfired, the formatting was a bit of a hiccup and the initial feedback strongly recommended revisions. Consequently, the first of the Venture Forth Ganymede series has been taken off Amazon for the time being while I go fix what needs fixing. If you have purchased it already, let me know by email and I will reimburse you by offering the reworked first episode for free.

Venture Forth Ganymede is live

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, may I please gain your attention to my Smashwords and Amazon pages. There you will see Itaque per Mortem, So what is it about, you ask? All going to plan, it's a start to a series or serialisation of short stories novelettes, novellas and (once I get the hanf of it) novels featuring the adventures of one Jack Crowley and his peers in the United States Fleet Forces and later the Joint Space Forces in the mid twenty-second century.

If you enjoyed the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, its spin-off Caprica and computer games like Starlancer, the Killzone franchise and the recent Infinite Warfare from Call of Duty . . . and like a quick read in one or two sittings, than this series is for you.

Success, but without the death

So some good news, I have uploaded the first of the Venture Forth: Ganymede onto both Smashwords and Amazon. 

Personally, am rather excited and will keep you all informed as they go live. In the interim, please check out the link to the left (the one sporting the blue cover with red writing).

A different look and an update

February is a rather short month, and what better way to see the end of it than by fiddling with the layout of my blog, change its name and sign up to Upwork.com . . . and even spend sometime in the sun. 

So what did I do? Well, I linked my Amazon and Smashwords pages for easier access. Amazon has one non-fiction book and two fiction shorts and Smashwords is currently empty for now, but that too would change. 

Why do all those things? Why not, a change is as good as a holiday, right. 😈 Okay, to be fair, just wanted a change.

Not only that, I do have a bit of an announcement to make . . .

So what is it, you ask? It is essentially something that I have eluded to back in a previous post. The story will be part of a series, whether it be just three books or more will be determined, and it's something that evolved out of my attempt in introducing Olympus Mons a few weeks back (I need to work on it a tad more). I do have more on the subject, but for another post.

Is patience a virtue?

I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying “Patience is a virtue” somewhere along the way? According to the English Club, the quote means something along the lines of having the ability to wait for something without getting angry or upset is a valuable quality in a person. For me, it’s more a matter of strategy. Think about it. Things do not happen overnight or straight away, whether it be finishing school or finding the perfect path to your career, or get that manuscript done right. It takes time, and for those of us who are impatient hearing someone say that patience is a virtue . . .


Well, this is my reaction:









Let’s face it, we all live in a society of instant gratification. We just want things now, now, NOW!


Consequently, being patient is a strategic tactic that I use proactively in my daily life both professionally and personally. Along with each new step forward (and the occasional stumble), I am closer to my goals and my eyes are on that prize.
