See what I did there with the title? If you've noticed that I've used the plural version of 'project'. That's right, I have more than two projects underway.
The first one you know about, and am happy to say that it's now 35,000 words. Set in the far future and situated in our very own backyard, in the form of the Solar System, it follows the adventure of the JSSAR vessel Opportune and her crew as they uncover something big.
The second is a collaboration with my friend Nigel Gillson and features a story on what happens when your allies aren't whom they seem to be. All going well, it'll be a series of novellas and so forth.
Third, we have Bukowski and friends, and for now I'll leave that there.
Peter Stanley’s foray into writing was academic, while spearheading his first community development project within his local disabled persons’ community. A trained social worker, the last decade and a half had him work in customer care, qualitative research, supported employment, supporting his peers within the disabled community, and presently as a career coach. He hails from Gdynia, in Poland, but New Zealand has been home for forty odd years now.

Project Update 1
So a while back, like last year, I wrote this. It talked about the prospect of something other than a Gene Bukowski update and sometime later I announced that I have a new character, and then ... well, the sound of crickets really, as nothing eventuated. Then there was the failed venture in trying to write an original military science fiction story based on my fan fiction, which was rightfully ripped to shreds by several authors whose opinion I value. It forced me to go back to the drawing board, quite literally.
Hence this update, really. I have a new project that doesn't involve Gene Bukowski. So what can I tell you about this new project? Well, it's the result of going back to the drawing board and it does feature Abdul Jafari and the Joint Space Forces, and there is indeed a rough draft of under 20,000 words. That is all for now.

Nearing the end
Who would have thought that this year would go so fast. It was only yesterday that it was January, wasn't it? A lot had transpired, such as my fiance moving in with me, job and life in general. I tried submitting stories a few times, but rejections were the outcome. That didn't mean that I was giving up in any way, shape or form. I like to write, and am thinking of starting the next year by going independent like my friend Erica Conroy and a few others that I follow.
Hope you are well though . . .

First story submission in 7 years away
So last week I have submitted a 11,000 worded novelette to Asimov's Science Fiction and Fact, a science fiction magazine (they have an electronic version too). Hopefully in four weeks I'll know.
Considering the false starts recently I think that trying to go indy with short works is not a good idea, as I do not have enough to show just yet.

Down for the count . . .
So my first attempt in introducing a new story kind of backfired, the formatting was a bit of a hiccup and the initial feedback strongly recommended revisions. Consequently, the first of the Venture Forth Ganymede series has been taken off Amazon for the time being while I go fix what needs fixing. If you have purchased it already, let me know by email and I will reimburse you by offering the reworked first episode for free.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Venture Forth Ganymede is live
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, may I please gain your attention to my Smashwords and Amazon pages. There you will see Itaque per Mortem, So what is it about, you ask? All going to plan, it's a start to a series or serialisation of short stories novelettes, novellas and (once I get the hanf of it) novels featuring the adventures of one Jack Crowley and his peers in the United States Fleet Forces and later the Joint Space Forces in the mid twenty-second century.
If you enjoyed the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, its spin-off Caprica and computer games like Starlancer, the Killzone franchise and the recent Infinite Warfare from Call of Duty . . . and like a quick read in one or two sittings, than this series is for you.
Please note that if you want to purchase the story from Smashwords, you'll need to sign in and create an account with them.

So some good news, I have uploaded the first of the Venture Forth: Ganymede onto both Smashwords and Amazon.
Personally, am rather excited and will keep you all informed as they go live. In the interim, please check out the link to the left (the one sporting the blue cover with red writing).
And below that you'll see With Prejudice.
